Heartbeat Set Visit
Haven't written this up yet... but here are some photos with brief captions.
Wednesday 15th October 1998 in Goathland ("Aidensfield")
pictures in no particular order at this stage.
Filming Episode 18 of Season 7 - "The Angry Brigade"
| Sign points the way to Goathland (also to Whitby, seat of much additional Heartbeat activity) | |
| Heartbeat "Witches Hat" for blocking the
road for traffic (note the marking) It occurs to me to wonder whether these are even called Witches Hats anywhere except Australia (or even Melbourne). I guess another word would be Traffic Cone. |
|
| PC Mike Bradley and "Aunty Mary" check that they are on their marks | |
| David Michaels (Dr Neil Bolton) surveys the crowds
who have come to watch the filming Can you see rubber mats on the road just inside the kerb? They are laid to cover the line markings |
|
| Here he is again with me & Claudia. Behind us is the "Aidensfield Arms" and some of the crowd who have gathered to watch the filming. One person has turned to look at us - we felt special because we were allowed behind the public lines, and noticed a few people wondering why we were there... | |
| Jason Durr (PC Mike Bradley) with Claudia, Fraser and me | |
| Jason again, on "his" (Mike's) motorcycle. | |
| Producer Pat Brown in her "home away from home" the production office (with me, Claudia & Fraser of course) | |
| Tricia Penrose (Aidensfield Arms publican Gina Ward) with Fraser and Claudia (watching Tricia). Tricia is a sensation, really nice, very friendly and above all welcoming. She was also very keen on Claudia (we ask who wouldn't be), declaring that she made her feel quite "broody". | |
| Me, Claudia and Tricia | |
| Me and Claudia with Tricia and David | |
| Hmmm... we really monopolised Tricia! | |
| Filming a scene outside the Aidensfield Arms | |
| Fraser, Claudia and me with "Bernie Scripps" (his name will come back to me) | |
| Is this Nick Rowan's MG??? The crew are taping over the number plate so it can't be seen |
|
| Just some of the crowd who gather daily to watch the filming | |
| Checking the picture on the director's camera (I am just behind the huddle) | |
| Me and Claudia with Gina Ward's Fiat Uno | |
| Mostyn's Garage and Funeral Parlour | |
| Jamie Muirhead, one of the 2 Assistant Location Managers, whose job for the day was essentially to wrangle us. Jamie was great, very friendly and happy to spend the day telling us about what happens during filming. Like others, he was very taken with Claudia! | |
| horsing around - Kazia Pelka (Nurse Maggie Bolton) gets a piggyback from someone. From memory, it was Martin Curry, the second Assistant Director. | |
| Exterior of the Aidensfield Arms (you can just make out me & Claudia by the Fiat). There were a couple of real policemen in Goathland, presumably for crowd control but also to manage traffic. We hadn't realised what an enormous amount of co-ordination was involved in location shoots. | |
| Me outside the "Aidensfield Post Office" (Goathland General Store) | |
| Fraser and Claudia outside the equipment van |
| The pub with the split personality - is it the Goathland Hotel (lower sign) or the Aidensfield Arms (above)?? |
