Meet our Company Directors

The executive team at Netspace comprises of company founders Stuart Marburg and Richard Preen.

Stuart Marburg – Managing Director

A pioneer in the Australian telecommunications industry, Stuart co-founded Netspace in 1992, and under his leadership the company has developed into the leading provider of Internet services we see today.

Stuart holds a Bachelor of Business specialising in Business Information Systems from RMIT University, is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and in 2002 was awarded Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year (Southern Region).

Richard Preen – Technical Director

At the pinnacle of network engineering, Richard is a co-founder and now Technical Director of Netspace. Under his supervision, Netspace became one of the first Internet providers to offer a 56k dial up service, followed shortly by ADSL broadband services.

Responsible for overseeing the development and evolution of our national communications network, Richard is currently leading our efforts to roll out a national network of DSLAMs, as well as a Voice Over IP service.

A Short History of Netspace

Netspace began as a bulletin board dial up service way back in the 1990s when people actually knew what a bulletin board was.

Stuart Marburg and Richard Preen started the business while at university, and after running their service from Stuart's home, sky-rocketing demand pushed them into a small office in Hartwell, Melbourne.

From there, as their own business grew, Netspace became a national carrier by acquiring four smaller ISPs: InfinityOnline, Globec, Dynamic Bell and Eagles Internet.

Early success was driven by the same philosophy that guides the company today: communication technology should be affordable, dependable, and easy to use.
